Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has cut Sod for the refurbishment and expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital in Mampong in the eastern Region of Ghana.
He said the refurbishment as part of the government’s policy imitative in achievement of the SDG 3 to provide quality healthcare delivery to the people of the republic of Ghana to ensure and promote comprehensive development of the wellbeing of the people.
The Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital was established in the year 1929 and named to Honour Tetteh Quarshie.
However, over the past years the hospital has not seen any maintenance since its establishment and hence has thrown the hospital to a deplorable state.
However, the minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu has cut sod to officially commence refurbishment works and upgrade on the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital and maintain the place to regain its lost glory for the past few years.
The Sod cutting ceremony was to officially signify the commencement of the rehabilitation work of the facility which hasn’t seen any upgrade and maintenance for many years.
Although, work has unreadily started on the rehabilitation of the inner link road to the doctor’s bungalows which was in a poor and deplorable state.
The refurbishment of the hospital follows series of stakeholder’s consultations, engagements and interactions with all relevant stakeholders as well as management of the Hospital in finding ways of bringing the hospital back to life.
The Sod Cutting ceremony was attended by the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, The Deputy Information Minister, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah – Adjei, Nananom, the clergy, Opinion Leaders, Party Officials, the youth and among others.
Giving a keynote address at the sod cutting ceremony to officially commence rehabilitation of the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu said the refurbishment as part of the government’s policy imitative in achievement of the SDG 3 to provide quality healthcare delivery to the people of the republic of Ghana to ensure and promote comprehensive development of the wellbeing of the people.
He revealed that the President of the Republic og Ghana, Nana Addo DAnquah Akuffo Addo in collaboration with the president of Norway in Achievement of the United Nations Vision 2030, that everyone anywhere must have access to quality healthcare delivery will do everything possible to help improve the healthcare system before the set time is due.
Furthermore, he said, there will be serious refurbishment of the OPD, Dental, Recover, ENT, Theatre, X-Ray, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Male Ward Medical and Surgical, Female Ward, Maternity Ward, CSSD and among others to have a new look to promote quality healthcare delivery at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial hospital.
In addition, there will be incubators to further asset the maternity ward whenever the need arises and also there will be a gas system with oxygen plant, and provide them with a Generator to further asset the electricity at the hospital.
Adding that provision will be made to take healthcare delivery system at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital to the Digital format and hence make healthcare delivery very smart and fast.
The minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, used the opportunity to appeal to the people of Akuapem to express gratitude to the president of the Republic of Ghana, nana Addo Danqua Akuffo –Adddo and their Member of Parliament who doubles as Deputy communications Minister not just by words but by voting to retain them into power in the upcoming 2020 general elections.
He called on Unity Among the traditional Leaders in the Akuapem state since if there is no peace there cannot be development and therefore called on them to pay fluent visit to the Hospital to ensure the refurbishment process is well done.
Adding that there will be supervision from the health ministry to see to it there is quality work output been done
Addressing the Gathering, The member of Parliament of Akuapem North Constituency who doubles as the deputy communications Minister Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah – Adjei vowed to help ensure improved healthcare needs while promoting comprehensive development of well being of her constituents .
Adding that the deplorable state of the Tetteh Quarshie memorial Hospital was a major headache to her and to all living in her constituency and beyond and hence there was a great need for the refurbishment of the Hospital .
She thus described the move as a giant step in fulfilling a significant portion of her pledge to improve healthcare after assuming office as a Member of Parliament.
She Expressed gratitude to the government for coming to their aide to help them renovate the hospital to regain its lost glory to suit the name the Hospital has created for itself in the past years and raise it to the peak.
She added, it has been the dream of the current government administration to renovate and build up all Regional Hospitals but she lobbied very hard to get the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital renovated as early as possible.
She appealed to the citizens in her constituency to willingly support the refurbishment process with their prayers, strength and support.
Furthermore she called on the Contractors to employ the company of her constituents in the refurbishment process such as carpenters, Masons and among others to help bring economic development to the people of Akuapem.
A durbar of chiefs and people was held to officially welcome the Health Minister and his entourage to officially cut sod for the commencement of the refurbishment of the Tetteh Quarshie memorial Hospital.
There were cultural display to further entertain the gathering and to promote the great culture of our dear motherland Ghana.
